Modified compressor inlets for turbo in the stock location:

The stock "S-pipe" that attaches to the compressor inlet is generally assumed to be fairly restrictive. Because of the close proximity of the stock engine mount bracket and isolator, this problem is further aggravated when a compressor housing with a larger inlet is used. These are some solutions posted by people on the Z31.com and Z31Performance.com message boards.
